Something to share with colleagues--"License to Live"-insights shared by the College Principal Dr Gulshan Gidwani

On 24th December our teaching staff assembled in the library and listened to the college principal Dr Gulshan Gidwani's  views on the book- "License to Live", written by the eminent author Ms Priya Kumar. Author’s previous book "I Am Another You", inspired her to read the book in question. She shared the highlights of the book as follows:
‘The book is an inspirational thriller. In this fiction author enrolls herself in a seminar organized by one of the finest success coaches in the world. A seven day seminar spread over three countries, puts her onto a journey where she is forced to look within and be her own teacher and guide, something she had done so well for others but missed doing for herself. She finds herself trapped in her future and her past and realizes that the root cause of her misery is that she is never in the present time. If you live in the present and you feel happiness in the present.
At the end of the fable author gets a “License to Live” which had following embossed on it:
                                         LICENSE TO LIVE
Name: Priya Kumar Age: Timeless Aspirations: Boundless
The holder is totally in the present and aware of the infinite possibilities held in   time. She makes choices for the highest good and is a creator of realities by choice. She has the license to live and does so with dignity and pride
Authorized signatory: Kurt Rinck /17th January 2005

Inspired by this book our principal wrote a poem which says:

Did I Shine Today?
I sit out in the balcony
Looking up at the stars…
So few in number… almost invisible…
But the crescent moon, very much there,
Faithfully by their side,
True to its nature,
Serene, calm, cool, beautiful,
Reflecting a light
Not even its own!
Whose light does it reflect?
The sun set hours ago
To light up another world
Yet it continues to illumine
My world!
The sun shines
Even when the world
Turns its back on it!

What if the sun got upset
For people find the moon romantic?
What if the sun got mad
For the moon takes the credit
For illuminating the night?
What if the sun sulked and quit
For there is no due acknowledgement?
When the sun quits,
Life will cease to exist.

What is the role of the sun
In my own small world ?
Each time I operate out of
 Acknowledgement, praise, compliments,
I lay seeds of non existence
Within and without

Who gets the credit?
Who gets the glory?
Does it really matter?
What does matter is:
Did I do?
What I was meant to do today?
Did I light up my own,
And another’s world today?
Did I shine today???

Every one present appreciated the principal for sharing such an inspirational book with them. At the end announcement regarding availability of  this book in the library, was made by the principal.
