Existing Book Collection Display
As a
regular monthly feature library will be displaying books on Swami
Vivekananda to mark his birth anniversary on 12th January. All
library members are requested to please visit the library and get a chance
to peruse through books on this great soul. Swami Vivekananda is
regarded as a patriotic saint and his birthday is celebrated as the National
Youth Day.
A
Message of him:
"Come up, O lions, and shake off the delusion that you
are sheep; you are souls immortal, spirits free, blest and eternal; ye are not matter, ye are not bodies; matter is your servant, not you the
servant of matter"
Some of his famous quotes are:
“All the powers in the universe are already ours. It
is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.”
“We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.”
“The moment I have realized God sitting in the temple of every
human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see
God in him - that moment I am free from bondage, everything that binds
vanishes, and I am free.”
Quote of the Month
I choose free libraries as the best agencies for
improving the masses of
the people, because they
give nothing for nothing. They
only help those who help
themselves. They never pauperize. They reach the aspiring and open to
these chief treasures of the world -- those stored up in
books. A taste for reading drives out lower tastes.
